Elysium

Hi Nupur
a very lovely tale about a little girl and her friend, soulmate, her doll. i initially thought Dia was a human being or just an imaginary friend of Kehar's. the imagerythroughout the story is waht kept me hooked. its as if the reader is there in Kehars house. loved the simplicity of the story.

Burning Bridges: Aamir Khan to ma Rescue!

Yo PF
well i couldnt help smiling at the 1st para. your thought on solo travel:D i had that dream since as long as i can remember, and i finally did fulfill it last month:P the location and all you'll come to know as im composing an entire travelogue 4 the same. i had made some notes on da journey, just putting it to da comp:P n whilst i was at it, i happened to c da Aamir Khan Titan ad, which had that message that u have written, n i was kinda elated:D i mean here i am doing just what has been consolidated by my favouritest actor on the planet:P

Well it was indeed a brave thing that you did crossing the bridge. i mean i am a Mumbaikar and i know the feeling you get as a train passes under the bridge. The feeling that the bridge might come down any minute:D plus u had Nature against u:D But then, i guess ur determination to cross the bridge was tooo high as compared to the fear that u may have felt so u went ahead and did it:d

regarding intrepid travellin, i guess theres a keeda amongst Engineers to do somethin different, somethin wierd. I too wander away on foot if i am bored or anythin, exploring and learning from the world around me:P its fun that way.

take care
ciao

THE GREAT MARATHA- ANT OR ELEPHANT ?

Hi 1%
interesting write up. well its not necessary that only Marathi speaking populace can be considered Maharashtrians. people who have stayed here since generations be they from any caste are as much Maharashtrians as the ones 'jyanchi matrbhasha Marathi aahe'.  Divisions are created by certain elements in the society to get political or personal mileage outta it, but they have always fallen flat on their faces.

Its a fact that one dosent really need to know Marathi in order to live in Mumbai, but that isnt true of many major cities that i have been to. But yeah if one is really interested, learning the local language, local culture, then he/she will go ahead and pursue it.
I have stayed in Kolkata for quite a while, n inspite of being a true blue Mumbaikar, i didnt hesitate to learn bout the Kolkata culture, their arts, their language. Its just enriched me with a gem of a culture. So its all a personal matter really.

Marathi Cinema is slowly but surely churning out quality films. I believe the Marathi cinema during the 70s, 80s was quite good, where the films were socially relevant. This was followed by the 'achratpana' in terms of cliched comedies in the 90s. They still churn out stupid mindless comedies but at the same time we have films like 'Shwas', 'Valu', 'Dombivli Fast' etc which have power packed scripts and performances.

The Bombay/Mumbai debate is never gonna end. I use Bombay, Mumbai both terms many times and i dont feel any difference. But i hate people who insist on calling it only Mumbai or only Bombay. Mumbai, itself is the Gujju name of Bombay.

Reliving Television of the 80s

Hi AMB
well i totqally agree with you. even though the prime time viewing was the only time TV used to be on, the quality of the shows was really good. Although i am not completely of the 80s era, i was more hooked onto TV from early 90s onwards. But, i am a huge fan og "Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi". I guess it was laugh a riot. the Mile Sur Mera Tumhara song has always been very charming as it instantly takes me back to my childhood days. n well who can forget "Fun Time" in the May period where they used to showcase the cartoons and other kiddie shows. a perfect way to spend the afternoons in the vacations.

The Absorbent Mind

hi there
im no parent but this was a heart warming post bout the trials faced by parents when their kids appear 'different' from the rest. it is shocking at first, but then i guess every child is 'different' in his own way. some beahviours make it obvious, others dont. Its heartening to know that your child isnt autistic or suffers from any obvious illness. all we want is to see a smile on their faces, it automatically brings a smile on ours:D

Manali: In the lap of the Gods

Hey BSK
amazing photo journey thru Manali and Rohtaang. i just love the hilly areas and am just back from an amazing tour of Uttarakhand. i liked the fact tht the nagar panchayat member had her cell no out on da streets. indeed a lesson to be learnt. Yeah even i used to think that Yaks are ferocious creatures, but was surprised to find them to be so calm n serene when i was in Gangtok. The drive upto Rohtang seems wonderful. Snowball fights! Ah! that is something that still eludes me:d
