Hi,
I'm really impressed that a non Kolkattan and that too a Mumbaikar can feel so passionately about the city. Your description took me back home instantly and is just perfect, each and every place that you've mentioned.  I'm a Kolkattan( perfect foodie too) by birth and by heart but sadly am now living in Chennai for the last two years( My blog - Home is where the heart is, written just after last durga puja) . But this write up was the closest thing to actually going back home at Salt Lake. Really miss  home, thanks for the short trip back home

Swarajya
yeaa i agree with all that you have mentioned. Cost of living in Kolkata is very economical. and the variety of food you get there is great. Kolkata also is the cultural capital of the country with  great literature too. these factors really etch Kolkata in a persons mind forever.
and yeaa in some parts of Kolkata i think immediate makeover is required. but i m positive what with places like Salt Lake City (sector 5) the mecca of software firms, and a new township coming up in Rajarhat.

Satyeki Chatterjee
im surprised to hear from a veggie Bengali:d no offence but most Bengalis are non vegetarians. n well the food culture in Kolkata roxx.

Tombaan
well the food rocks, n well i wudnt call Kolkata a slumcity, but having said that i tstill feeel that there is a lot of scope for improvement.

Ratan Datta
i agree with all you have to say bout good food being better than fancy restaurant food, which is expensive and without any god taste, most of the times. And well reg Kolkata i personally felt that there is a lot of scope for improvement.

Take Care
Ciao
